மே மாதம் 10ம் திகதிக்கு முன்னர் கொரோனாவை முழுமையாக கட்டுப்படுத்தி விட்டதாக சுகாதார துறை அறிவித்தால் மாத்திரமே ஜுன் 20ம் திகதி தேர்தலை நடத்துவது சாத்தியமாகும் என தேர்தல்கள் ஆணைக்குழுவின் தலைவர் மஹிந்த தேசப்பிரிய தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

தேர்தலுக்கான ஆரம்ப கட்ட வேலைகளை முன்னெடுத்து வரும் தேர்தல்கள் தினைக்களம் முக்கியமான வேலைகளை இறுதி நேரத்தில் தான் மேற்கொள்ளும் எனவும் தெரிவித்தார்.
